Quicken For Mac 2016 Flags Gone
Im trying to load Quicken for Mac. My old computer crashed so I lost the old quicken, but I had a backup of my database just last week. So im bought quicken for Mac and Im trying to convert but it. Quicken 2016 will open Essentials data (I had the same issue as you, I had essentials and had to update Quicken, and while it still *****, 2016 is better than essentials). You dont need to restore from a backup either, quicken 2016 can open you existing quicken file.
I too found Quicken Essentials 'un-horsed' by Sierra. I have solved it for now by buying Quicken 2016 which seamlessly imported the Essentials data and seems to have picked up just where I left off. I am sure there are some quirks in Quicken 2016, yet to come. Very quick learning curve. I am cautiously optimistic about the 'new' Quicken company which has purchased the individual user business from Intuit and just may support the product and its users. I have come to seriously dislike Intuit over the years for its disregard for its customers and the shoddy products and support.
One other recommended solution was the product from Banktivity which seems to get high marks. And I might just have switched due to dislike of the Quicken/Intuit experience. However, as I understand it, Banktivity requires that you first EXPORT data from Quicken Essentials into a Quicken 7 format before it can be imported into Banktivity. Since Quicken Essentials no longer runs on my machine, that is not easily accomplished. If they imported directly from 'Essentials' then I could likely have gone with their product.
